Back to Kicking CF’s Butt…

13 Feb

Thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers! Brady is home and so very excited to be with his brother Quinn again!

Brady was/is a complete rock star! He spent 5 nights and 5 days in isolation in a small hospital room while already suffering from some major cabin fever…and he did great! We are lucky to be in a city with such amazing hospitals to choose from and Lurie Children’s Hospital is incredible…don’t go running out to visit anytime soon but please take my word for it!

We have a couple of weeks remaining with IV’s at home and then he will likely have even more antibiotics to continue when the IV is done. Brady’s CT Scan showed severe sinus blockage which can be common in CF kids, and they attribute to the migraine headaches that were knocking Brady out of commission for a couple of hours every day. CF makes it very difficult for things to move freely throughout the body and this is one of those CF-related “conditions” we never considered for some reason. We continue to learn that when there is even the slightest percentage of likelihood that something is possible, it most likely will be a condition we get to experience.

We have a long road ahead of us as Kellene and I do our best to maintain the care Brady was getting in the hospital. Changing the IV’s isn’t so bad, but it really sucks that CF can do this to Brady and 30,000+ families across the country who can also relate…CF SUCKS! Brady is seriously invested in kicking CF’s butt and I have never felt better about supporting someone! He made the best of the situation while in the hospital and left all of his nurses and most everyone on our floor with Valentine’s Day cards and his very own artwork he was “selling” for FREE by the time we left. I have already been working with him on his business plan and figure we should have it sorted out in time for the Cure Found Party so please help me accelerate that timeline!

We hope to see you all at Shamrockin’ for a Cure 2014 on March 7th. In addition to live music, bag pipers and Irish dancers we are expecting to have the St Patrick’s Day Queen and her court in attendance too! There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the night and we hope to see you there!

Thanks!
